Back day today ... Back was rounding A LOT on my deadlifts so I decided to add these Lat Activation Pulls superset with Lat Pull-downs. -
The purpose is to just use the lats bringing shoulder blades back and down simulating the need for loading the late in the deadlift.

One of my favorite row variations to do to really target the mid back as well as build width from the lats/teres group. I usually set the cable at the lowest point but when it’s at my waist level it allows me to focus on releasing the SCAPULA and not extending from the ELBOW! A lot and I mean A FUCK TON of people will row and let the arm fully extend and then they wonder why there arms feel more of the load then the actual posterior chain. You have to understand anatomy and also biomechanics. It’s very simple. Learn to release the scapula first and allow the lats, rhomboids, stretch out keeping the elbow slightly flexed then INITIATE the movement with retraction and depression of the shoulder blade, THEN the bicep can help assist as you get into the heavier weights..

For me, if I have to pick the one and only exercise it’s is slowmo deadlifts (eccentric deadlifts)

Here’s why doing slow deadlifts helps to bring up lower back strength:

Learn to lock your lats by imagine you are bending the bar and lowering the weights slowly at the eccentric it really amplifies the tension and increase more muscles recruitment at the entire back at in the given time under tension. Which serves muscle growth hypertrophy purposes and breaking plateau. Which I felt my whole back is so sore like I got hit by a truck.

βœ…πŸ‘‰πŸΌ2. Develop stronger and tighter core at the neutral spine position and aim to learn hold pelvis at neutral spine position at the eccentric. It also contribute better and development. If you want nice abs, deadlift is the answer.

If you aspire for that round 3-D look, wide v-taper, and overall aesthetics then try incorporating more old-school movements like T-bar rows. I have always enjoyed heavy back days and this exercise is a must. Not only will this help you build a stronger, thicker back, but a stronger core too. A true testament to your strength, grit, and determination, as there’s nothing to stabilize you but you during this exercise. I usually incorporate 4-5 sets with 6-8 reps. Focus on a weight you can control, and the overall tempo!
