Practicing some running drills c/o @ben.pulham πŸƒ I share his sentiments...as a child, you learn to walk and you learn to jump, but no one teaches you how to REALLY run with proper technique and proper form. And honestly speaking? I think my inefficient running style is one of the reasons to why I hate running so much.

HIIT workouts are currently my primary form of exercise, because I feel they are a more time-efficient way of getting in my exercise, and I LOVE the intensity of HIIT workouts. I'd say, thanks to this, my anaerobic fitness is probably pretty good. On the other hand, given that I barely run (my last proper run was MONTHS ago during last year's stanchart marathon), my aerobic fitness is definitely pretty terrible πŸ˜… I'm sure Ben will agree! I'd take up a crossfit WOD or HIIT workout anytime, but ask me to do a 1 mile run, and I'd probably tap out early.

Went into the running clinic with some (high?) expectations, and I definitely wasn't disappointed ☺️✌🏼 Picked up a few good tips that I think would be useful in my training for the @shape_sg and @sgmarathon that I have signed up for, and also got a couple of tips on vitamin supplementation from @blackmoressg:

πŸ’Ÿ Run using your heart rate as a gauge, instead of getting too fixated on pace or RPE
πŸ’Ÿ Lower intensity workouts like slower paced runs, can actually help your body engage its fat stores for fuel. This is the difference between aerobic exercise, and anaerobic exercise, which utilizes more glycogen (i.e. sugar stores in your muscles) for energy
πŸ’Ÿ Antioxidant supplements are important to combat the oxidative stress that exercise places on your body

I am coachable, and I am also very human too when left to call my own numbers.
When your coach at home says open on 90kg or 87.5kg if weight is light and you don't...I should of finished on way more. 2nd lift shown.

Definitely a good weekend for Team Accelerate this past few days. There has been plenty going on locally... On friday evening Stu Bond ran only his second race of the year, Tideswell Fell Race. Yeah, he was by his own admittance a little rusty, yet he still ran a course PB, ran an age best V40 time yet was pipped at the post by a young 'un. We think that's OK. Meanwhile, today Helen Elmore ran the Kinder Trog, in the clag and mist. Taking a steady start she only went onto win. Again, as a V40, Helen, surprised her self. The speed endurance is still there as she discovers that perhaps the longer distances may just suit. Time will tell, she'll work it out.
Helen and Stu, may well have the Team Accelerate Inov8 youngsters snapping on their heels from within the team, but as @runstucoach keeps on saying, I would not want to go head to head with either of them and if it comes to a race for the line, you'd best be quick! Good Mornings in the afternoon
Week 11 of the #shred Phase is almost complete
Focus is on building my hams because they lag my quads.
This session was all about the hammies:
1. Leg Curls
2. Good Mornings (featured)
3. Weighted Walking Lunges (ok not all about those hams πŸ˜‰)
4. Stiff Legged Deadlifts
5. Laying Vertical Leg Press Machine
My hams are screaming for me to stop βœ‹ 🚫but I'm like no way, we must destroy to grow (Russian accent πŸ˜‚)
