The pain a father feels when he realizes his daughter is hurt is astounding. The frustration of, "What could I have done better??" is overwhelming. The confusion of how it even happened is disorienting.
Found out our little one has what the doc called a, "Buckle Fracture." They put a half-cast on for two weeks in hopes that the pain will go away and it will heal. Let's just say the tears were real!
Learned a lot about a child's bones today. Apparently, when they are really young, bones break more like green tree branches. They sort of de-laminate instead of fracturing and, in severe cases, fray. Adult bones break/fracture like dead tree limbs, either cracking or simply separating somewhat cleanly.
A hand-full of M&Ms Minis and some stickers from the nurse's station, and she was good as new, kicking her feet up on the leather like she owns the place! (Also, she's undone her bandage three times already. Any hints on keeping the ace bandage stuck down?) #baby #daughter #cast #infant #injury #pain #dadlife #daddy #bones #fracture #anatomylesson #orthopedics #clumsybaby #allaboutthemstickers #vw #jetta
