Took a last minute outing to @wilsonsorchardia for apple cider donuts, a turnover, and the crowd favourite apple cider slushy! I love the orchard in the Fall, all the beautiful colours and sweeping views! I don’t know why we’ve never gone apple picking but perhaps we should remedy that! 😊
To continue the travelogue! We went to the cash only Chinese restaurant and ordered way too much food but enjoyed our hot meal. Then sweet slumber awaited us in our tent! We were all exhausted and definitely didn’t get an early start to our day haha. Before taking down camp we went back to Main Street and enjoyed Sunday breakfast with the local crew. It’s always fun to see the town cop eating with friends and neighbours and how everyone knows each other. After a big breakfast in anticipation of hiking and cave exploration we took down camp and headed to @goodwillintl! I was hoping I’d come up with an excuse to visit this small town Goodwill and after hearing how muddy the caves were I decided I needed some clothes that could get dirty. Yes, I was the idiot that packed skirts, brooches, and heels for a camping roadtrip. 😂 After procuring a shirt and sweatpants on sale for a $1 each we finally made our way to the caves about 1pm. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••
We had so much fun at the caves! Probably the best thing we did the entire trip. The girls had little flashlights and I had my headlamp and we climbed around and into as many caves as we could find. I did privately think that there would be no way I’d be going into any of the caves I had to crawl, slither, or drop into. And I’m proud to say that I actually got up the nerve and did all of those things haha. The scariest one was dropping myself through a hole down into a cave. The scenery around was beautiful and conquering fears just made this such a highlight! After a few hours we decided it was time to move on. We ate snacks for lunch in the car and continued the scenic drive to Dubuque. (The cow photo last post was taken just outside of the caves). I was so disappointed that we allotted such a small time frame to Dubuque. But we will definitely be back! Adventures to be cont.
