Watching the Masterchef final while devouring this DIVINE block of chocolate! 😍 @alterecosf not only produce delicious chocolate, but they're also a highly ethical brand, which ticks two big boxes for me!
Chocolate tends to be an easy one when we're looking at ingredients. Most of the time, there's going to be ingredients such as cocoa, cocoa butter (notice the o's and a's here...) cocoa mass, sugar, milk solids.
Now, without getting into a strict debate over what are THE most wholesome ingredients to have in sweets, these kind of ingredients I'm ok with for the otherwise healthy individual, in reasonable portions. What my eyes get drawn to when reading ingredient labels are numbers and ingredients that I wouldn't associate with what makes up that food naturally; ie. enhancers, stabilisers, preservatives, thickeners etc etc.
May I suggest, rather than being consumed by the nutritional label (where, correct me if I'm wrong, you're looking at the fat content first, then the others), try swapping to paying more attention to the actual ingredients; this is where the magic is!

I've said it before; there is a plethora of information out there on what we should and shouldn't be doing. You'll have noticed it's super hard to know what is real and what isn't - is it true beer improves quality of life? Can caffeine improve cellular health? Are eggs evil cholesterol spawns?? Yeah? So you've probably also noticed what once is deemed terrible for you and exiled from the dinner plate, comes back in the good books and back on your plate in due time - remember when potatoes were super bad? And when we were told we should avoid any fats at all costs?? Should we even believe what the science says about human nutrition anymore?? Well...This article explains that despite the contradictory evidence and research, the science is not broken, it is just super hard! With so many variables and other contributing factors it is not easy to understand to the complexities of human nutrition, regardless of the outcomes, research and painstaking time spent on trials. "randomised controlled trials are the gold standard of nutrition research, they're still not a silver bullet. They're rare, long, painstaking and extraordinarily expensive." Mushrooms are one of the very few foods that MUST be cooked when eating in large quantities, more than a few caps (40-50 grams), due to a compound known as agaritine.
