Weightlifting Tip: Do you power snatch more than you squat snatch? No, it's not "all mental." There are other reasons (Extending too long or too early) but the bottom position is the most common issue. Do 4x5 sotts press 4x/wk & you'll start improving that bottom position! I've done these as a warmup for the past 4yrs. If you look like the left the GOOD NEWS is you've got a LOT more left in the tank once you fix your bottom position!

Asen Zlatev clean and jerking an unbelievable 230kg as an 82.5kg lifter. Zlatev clean and jerked 225 in competition along with a 180 snatch giving him the 5th best Sinclair ever. His clean and jerk is a kilo more than the great Vardanyan at the same bodyweight.
This lift is 10kg more than Rostami's current world record at a lighter bodyweight!

🚨 THE DO'S AND DONT'S OF GOBLET SQUATS 🚨

The goblet squat is an exercise where the individual squats down with a weight held towards their chest and requires an adequate amount of stability and mobility.

This exercise is great for anybody that has difficulty staying upright in a barbell squat and experiences lower back pain and hip impingement symptoms. Because of the weight being held so closely to the body, this will enforce proper movement patterns in a squat and ensure that the correct muscles are being utilized.

Improper Goblet Squat:
1️⃣ Spine is rounded with a lack of stability
2️⃣ Lower back tucked backwards (increased lower back injury)
3️⃣ Weight is held too far from the body (promotes too much hinging of the hips)

Proper Goblet Squat:
1️⃣ Spine is neutral and upright
2️⃣ Lower back is strong and stable (decreases lower back injury)
3️⃣ Weight is held close to the body (ensures an even amount of hip and knee hinging)

The goblet squat is a perfect exercise for anybody that has difficulty keeping upright during a squat and/or recovering from an injury and were unable to squat/deadlift. A light kettlebell or dumbbell is preferred as this will help balance the weight evenly along the kinetic chain and minimize any forward lean.

When you follow behind your two bad ass + strong teammates through a clean & jerk ladder, you have plenty of motivation 😅 :50 for all three to hit the lift, :10 to transition - starting at 105# and increasing by 10# up to 215# // Hit 175# easy and then tied my lifetime PR of 185# but missed the jerk (I rushed it😒)!! Did my first weightlifting meet!! Super stoked with it, went 6/6 and ended on a 90kg snatch and a 112kg Clean and Jerk. Both PRs for a 202kg total, could not have gone any better! Well done to my training partner @sfinks_29 on his meet too, smashed it👊🏼 and of course thank you to @antstrengthcoach for all your help, been making some insane progress this year and could not have done it without his help! #athleticrev #therevbarbellclub #warmbodycoldmind

This was one of my favourite performances from the day, Grace Spencer (-63kg) going 48/66. Grace has only been lifting a short time, having not had the smoothest of warmups and missing her first attempt on the platform in only her second competition, a lot of lifters could be forgiven for loosing their head. Grace however then went 5/6 on her remaining lifts to secure a PB C&J and PB total!
