I had a disappointing day yesterday. Shooting the sporting like normal and my Beretta 690 wouldn’t fire the second shot. I couldn’t break the barrel so was left with a loaded gun! After hitting the back of the stock I finally got it to safely fire the second shot, thinking it was a one off I carried on shooting. About 20 cartridges later it happened again but this time after the second shot. I couldn’t risk it again so took it to the on site shop. After some more testing not by me, it happened again ruling out it possibly being something I was doing. Long story short the Beretta is on its way back to GMK to get it looked at. Disappointed as I have only had it 6 months and really looked after it. It cost me over 2k and I had just paid it off so Hopefully it comes back issue resolved.
Not having my gun for a while did however give me an idea. I visited a local gun shop where I know they sell some really cheap second hand guns. I went in and took a look at the rack. I wanted to find something that was the cheapest it could be but still have some life left in it. Luckily there were 3 to choose from so I picked the one with the best fit. It isn’t perfect but it’s close enough. I took it to the club this afternoon for a test drive. This Dan Arms pictured was £350 and I have never shot so well. I wanted to almost start the journey again but with the cheapest gun I could find knowing what little knowledge I now have about clay shooting. I have fallen in love with the old dog..... I hit 85/100 on the sporting stands. Granted they weren’t the hardest clays I have shot. But I held it together to get my practice PB. Im going to be using it in a sporting comp tomorrow morning so I will see how she performs!
Check out the big old brass weight at the bottom 🤣 if I can’t hit the clays with the shot at least I will be able to club them to pieces! •
