Meet our panel! First, Peter Asher. In the early sixties, Peter joined up with Gordon Waller to form the duo, "Peter and Gordon". Peter was a close friend of Paul McCartney who wrote "World without Love" for him. This was a number one hit for Peter and Gordon in the US and the two of them joined the British Invasion of the USA. In the late sixties, Peter came back to America to live and became enormously successful as the manager and producer of James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt, twice winning the Grammy Award for Producer of the Year.
Peter was a child actor who turned singer and musician, which is hardly surprising as his mother, Margaret Eliot, was an Oboe Professor who once taught George Martin to play. In his one-man show (if you haven’t seen it, you really should, it’s very interesting and a lot of fun) Peter talks affectionately of his days as a pop star, being chased by hordes of teenage girls! He remains in great demand today as a producer (having worked with acts as varied as Neil Diamond, Robin Williams, Ed Sheeran, Miguel, Fall Out Boy, Hans Zimmer, Steve Martin & Eddie Brickell and many more) and as a speaker and performer. Peter also has a weekly radio show on SiriusXM’s new Beatles channel.
