Tippi Hedren with her daughter Melanie Griffith and their 400 lb pet lion named Neil at their pool in Sherman Oaks in 1971. ⭐️Tippi later revealed that she regretted letting a fully grown lion live with her family saying, "I cringe when I see those pictures now. I have to tell you we were stupid beyond belief. We should never have taken those risks. These animals are so fast, and if they decide to go after you, nothing but a bullet to the brain will stop them."
⭐️Neil the lion would roam free in the Hedren household- even sleeping in bed with Melanie.
⭐️ Tippi's love for lions led to the disastrous and dangerous feature film "Roar" in which no animals were harmed but 70 cast and crew members were. Among them were the director Jan de Bont who had his scalp lifted by a lion and required 220 stitches and Melanie Griffith had her face mauled and required 50 stitches and required reconstructive surgery.
⭐️Today Tippi's lions are at an animal sanctuary in Acton that she runs: Shambala Preserve.
