We have all had days where we have reached home just before that big storm hits and thought "Thank goodness that I am not out in this weather".
Well, the SES volunteers do exactly that, whether it's just for a quick roof repair, a road crash rescue, or assisting in a land search, which is what our local members are involved in right now.
I joined the Qld State Emergency Service quite soon after the Brisbane floods and transferred to NSW SES when we moved interstate. I have only fairly recently resigned, as it was too hard to attend training at the weekend to keep skills current.
I want to shout out to all SES volunteers today and say thank you. The teams I have been involved with have all been highly trained and quite competent, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. #THANKYOUSES
