Week 3/ just had my derm appointment, hope everything is ok for me to keep going. We decided to stick with 30mg for another month because he wants my body to get used to the dosage before going higher. Side effects for this week: just minor joint pain on my back. Chest pain pretty much subsided. Few new breakouts which leave in 3 days. As you can see in the photos blackheads on my nose purging like crazy. Other than that, on to week 4 #accutane #isotretinoin #acne #claravis

Day 82. No active pimples πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ˜Š. Just getting used to the fact that the scars are permanent until (hopefully) I get those suckers lasered or burned off 😎😎. #accutanejourney #accutane #isotretinoin #claravis

Sorry, hair is getting long & I don't want to cut it. And also in the last photo it's sunscreen under my eye. But anyways! Week 2 On accutane! I've been having more dryness on my face usually if I go outside. Lips been somewhat dry but nothing to dramatic. Got way more breakouts which is expected. And the worst of all which freaked the hell out of me was the chest pain I've been having. I was reading and researching of chest pain & if it's something to worry about. & for some people they've experienced it in the first month and it leaves. I went to the doctors and she said I'm perfectly healthy and it has nothing to do with my heart which is good! She said just mention it to your derm (which I'm scared to do, don't want him pulling me off of the medications.) but yes this week was slightly more stressful but I feel much better. If anyone experiences chest pain I would recommend checking with your doc to make sure but also walking has helped a ton! So get out there!! #accutane #claravis #isotretinoin

Hair all over the place and skin flaky af... oh well. One month down. #claravis

Hi guys no filter or makeup. Today I started taking #claravis aka #accutane. I've been struggling with acne for a while , it might not be the worst acne but I've tried everything and I'm tired of waking up and being disappointed with my skin , I'll keep you guys updated #acne#skinjourney#skindiary

Three months into Claravis and here it is... NO MORE ACNE!!! It's SO insane to see the progress and actually have clear skin. Scarring is no biggie, at least I'm healing. I couldn't have done it without everyone's support and love and help, I can never thank everyone enough. Always remember to be strong and be courageous, you are beautiful no matter what. I am so happy that I could help and inspire others along this journey and process. But here it is, clear skin and happiness in its natural form πŸ’—

Damn I miss my old go-to foundation. I know this is a common problem with a lot of users in this community but I've had excessively oily skin since puberty - 7th or 8th grade. I FINALLY got the damn hang off perfect full-cover matte foundation, powder and setting spray, and then I decide to go on accutane. I do not regret it at all because I have also had cystic acne since puberty, but it's hard to accept that now my makeup wears like shit and my skin peels off in layers and I just don't know what to do with it. Does moisture restore after treatment? NOT saying I ever want to deal with the oil that I once experienced but damn I could use a little oil on my face AND HAIR. I go a week without washing and don't even have oil 😁😁😁😁😁. #accutanejourney #accutanesideeffects #isotretinoin #claravis

Absolutely no filter in natural lighting with no editing done, I'm a little surprised so many people want me to update them on my results! This picture really shows the quality of my skin, I still have a whole month to go so at the end I'll update you on pictures of my back! #isotretinoin #skinjourney #skincare #accutane #acne #accutanejourney #claravis

Day 78 - Today I had my last blood test and I have my last appointment next Friday. I have to stop accutane earlier than expected because I'm leaving the country for summer break and then I'm studying abroad in Hong Kong (!!!!!!) which is exciting bc bye side affects but also I've just been so discouraged and disappointed with my skin recently because nothing is happening!!!!! And my lips!!! Look!!!! So!!!! Disgusting!!!!! I just look at myself in the mirror and want to cry, I feel so self conscious. I'm just so worried and scared that this last month won't do anything and that my skin will keep looking like it does now.. which is not okay!!??!?!?! Ughhdhsjskdnek 😭😭😭😭#acne #acneproblems #acnescars #skin #skinproblems #accutane #acnetreatment #accutanediary #accutanejourney #isotretinoin #claravis

Day 5. My scabs are healing so quickly on my cheeks! I am notorious for picking my acne too much so I'm very thankful that they're flaking off so quickly. Otherwise, no new side effects, just a mild headache that has been on and off since starting this medicine. Continuing cortibalm and burts bees to prevent dry lips! #acne #acnesucks #accutane #claravis #accutanejourney

Forehead texture. Some days my forehead looks truly clear but on days like to day it feels like my skin is back to its preaccutane state. My forehead acne is the least noticeable but most persistent, and I think it will be the last thing to dry up. The rest of my skin is rough from dryness. These types of bumps usually go away on their own for me, but it's still annoying to have them. Because my forehead is the only area that hasn't cleared yet, I do think it's related to some kind of allergy. When my new insurance kicks in, I'm hoping to get allergy testing done to help detect possible things that may contribute to my acne! Also, I'd like to eventually get chemical peels or laser resurfacing done to hep with the appearance if depressed marks from cystic scars. Getting blood work tomorrow am before work to prep for my third month of #claravis ! 60mg here I come...?

Day 4. Lips are starting to get drier but I feel like part of that may be because I expected it and am searching for side effects. Regardless, I'm usig #cortibalm already to combat the dryness.
My scabs where I've picked (even though I shouldn'tπŸ™ˆ) are starting to flake off quicker than normal! I know in a week or so I won't be as happy with my whole face flaking but for now I'm satisfied.
Still have lots of texture on my forehead and really oily skin πŸ™„

the evolution of my skin πŸ€—πŸ€— also does anyone else feel like they've gained wait while on accutane?? like i've gained about 9 pounds??? and i haven't been eating differently and i've been working out and watching what i do........

This is more of a hair appreciation post than anything else! Claravis has made my hair super dry so I did a coconut oil hair mask (just wet hair, add coconut oil, let sit overnight) over the weekend and my hair was so much softer and fluffier afterwards. My skin has been doing pretty great. It's crazy to not have to worry every day when I wake up about the state of my skin. I am still dealing with scars and hyperpigmentation, as well as dryness and redness from the drug, but the clarity of my skin has been πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Day 76 - halfway through month 3! Sigh I still feel like not much is happening and everything looks the same. I just want to feel comfortable not wearing makeup out but I'm still not there yet and it's ugh 😞😞😞😞 #acne #acneproblems #acnescars #skin #skinproblems #accutane #acnetreatment #accutanediary #accutanejourney #isotretinoin #claravis

Today a customer told me, "Wow, you have beautiful skin." I was taken aback because the statement was so abrupt and unexpected. Honestly, for a little bit afterwards I felt pretty vain and was like, "Hell yeah I am beautiful." But then I went and examined myself close up in the mirror and fixated on every little bump and hyperpigmentation mark that still remains on my face (you can even spot where my forehead cyst used to be in this picture!) I still have some baby forehead bumps and had one of my allergic reaction pimples last night which is still red. I kind of wish she'd never said anything, because it caused me to switch my focus to my skin and after accutane my skin won't be so regulated, and how could I ever hold it to this current standard? Also, my hair is dry and frizzy af. Did a coconut oil hair mask tonight to help.

Lettin my hair down after a long first week at my new job. Skin has seemed a little more active with pimples since I dropped back down to 20mg (due to inability to see my doctor from work training schedule). I have a small spot of inflammation on my cheek and a healing zit underneath my chin. Neither seems to be very deep. Despite these slight issues, I'm continually impressed by how quickly accutane is turning over my skin and fading previous hyperpigmentation. I can't wait to see the end results. Marks that I thought would never fade are growing smaller and less noticeable by the day. (Only wearing mascara + lip balm here) Also, my skin feels sooo soft. For the first time since puberty my skin is smooth and soft instead of rough and bumpy. I used to feel the clogs and dry patches from anti acne topicals all over my skin. Once when I was a teenager a friend touched my face. Recoiling, she said "wow" when she felt how dry and rough it was. The difference is incredible. Also, I know dryness is a side effect of accutane and maybe it will get worse, but I find it entirely manageable right now...it's almost as if my skin has adjusted to the drug.

Month 4: 60mg. It feels like my face is going backwards these last few days. It's very red and I feel like I have a sunburn all over my body but I do not. I have absolutely no motivation to do anything and I just feel like my body is shutting down. I'm not going to give up though! I hope everyone else is doing well with their accutane journeys!
