Everyone remembers their first Civilization; mine was Civ V. My husband and I like the computer game so much that Sid Meiers Civilization (2010 version) was our very first true modern board game, and we got it a few years before we even knew what this hobby was all about. I loved how the makers were able to take such a complex and nuanced game and distill it into a short (compared to the time it takes to play the computer game) tabletop experience. So when Civilization: A New Dawn was announced, you know we took notice. We were worried that a 60 - 90 minute experience couldn't come close to the real game so we waited, and finally got it when there was a deep discount available. We set it up and started a game while reading through the rule book, though it got too late to finish. No, it's not a "real" Civ experience, but I'm truly impressed with how the makers were able to distill that epic experience into a short game that still feels true to the source material while at the same time being something completely new that respectably stands on it's own. As with the Fallout board game, hats off to you @fantasyflightgames ! Anyone else enjoy this Civ game?
