It's important that us white folks look up our local BLM chapter, follow them on social media and find ways to show up and support. As a supplement to this work, WP4BL and AWARE (Alliance of White Anti-Racists Everywhere) offer great tools and ways for white people to show up for Black lives for those that live in Los Angeles. SURJ (Showing Up For Racial Justice) is a national network of white-anti racist organizations for those that live outside of LA. Look up your local chapter on their site.
From WP4BL on our participation in @CicLAvia this year: "Responding to Rosa Clemente's call last year for white people to take a more visible stance against racism, we use the public platform of #CicLAvia to attempt to push the progressive vision of the event further, by imagining Los Angeles free of police brutality; police are there to ensure safety of cyclists and walkers at this event, yet are back to terrorizing Black and Brown folks on those same streets right after.
We march along the route in Downtown Los Angeles and amplify #BlackLivesMatter demands, while engaging white people along the route, and creating a pathway for more white people to show up for anti-racist action." From "The Autobiography of Malcolm X" on white people working for racial justice: "Where the really sincere white people have got to do their 'proving' of themselves is not among the black victims, but out on the battle lines of where America's racism really is- and that's in their own communities; American's racism is among their own fellow whites. That's where sincere whites who really mean to accomplish something have got work to do."
