You know the good thing about tomato based BBQ sauce? Especially those that do not contain high fructose, gluten or added preservatives ie Burgess Brothers Mild or Bold flavors. It make a great chili and you don't have to add tomato paste or sauce.
Ground turkey or chicken, (Kellie P, Vegan and sub meat for black beans or diced firm tofu)
1 onion /1 Jalapeño
Chopped , finely diced onion (yellow or white)
Chili Powder, Cumin, Salt
Black Pepper, Onion Powder, Cayenne Pepper
Burgess Brothers Mild BBQ Sauce
15 oz can
Kidney Beans (1can) Drained and rinsed
15 oz can
Pinto Beans (1can) Drained and rinsed
Use no stick cooking spray or 2 tablespoons of oil in large cooking pot. Add chopped garlic, onions and saute on med heat for 2-3 mins. Add in ground protein, chili powder, cumin, onion powder, salt and black pepper. Cook until meat is browned. Strain off excess fat if necessary then place ground meat into same pan. Add beans, 16 oz. of Burgess Brothers’ BBQ sauce and 16 oz. of water, stir together well, cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 1 hour stirring occasionally. For thickening allow to simmer uncovered for 25-30 mins of 1 hour.
