On May 3rd, 2016, Navy Special Warfare Officer Charles Keating IV was killed in combat in Northern Iraq during a battle with the Islamic State. Following the attack, Chief Petty Officer Keating was posthumously awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
He was a husband, son, brother, cousin, friend, and frogman who had your back to the very end. He was a warrior who earned the nickname “Rambo” amongst the Peshmerga fighters. He was a revered leader, loved by his SEAL team brethren. He was a surfer who could catch any wave, a fearless swimmer willing to dive with any shark, and a loveable guy with a smile that could light up anyone’s day. He was a patriot who gave his life protecting our freedoms. This weekend and always we will remember and honor those who fought for our great county.
