2013 throwback! My favourite section from Ourkouzounov's Folk Song Variations. Full of intense chromaticism, power chords and twisted Bulgarian melodies, this part was always tons of fun to play (back when my nails were good :'c)
1 Minute Monday Martin Miller Minor Blues Lick (That's a lot of M's)
Follow Martin @martinmillerguitar This week I decided to transcribe a Martin Miller line. I've been a fan of the bebop esque fusion lines he plays for a while so i went looking for one to steal... I found this on a video of him playing over Mr. P.C.
The line here is used over bar 4 of a minor blues in Cm and involves a little bit of the C half whole diminished scale and alot of chromaticism. Both of these devices create tension over that 4th bar implying a C7b9 resolving to the Fm7 in what would be bar 5 of the progression. Once we get to the Fm7 I put in some similar information with the little chromatic walk down to give it a bit of link to the previous line before resolving to the 5th of the Fm7. As always.
