😮 DID YOU KNOW!
Range Rover ChromaFlair
The jarring $14,500 lemon-lime paint job that coats this Range Rover is called the Spectral Amber ChromaFlair option, and it is one of five psychedelic paints offered on the $127,000 Range Rover Autobiography. Only eight were imported with such finishes for the 2011 model year, and no other production car has it.
Like Cadillac did for the SpectraFlair, Range Rover went to optics-supplier JDSU for the Range's ChromaFlair treatment, which blends metallic paint with an aluminum pigment that makes the paint appear to dance. The technique is called light interference. First, a metallic basecoat is applied. Then the ChromaFlair pigment—layers of aluminum flakes a half-micron thick, sealed in magnesium fluoride—is sprayed on in two coats. Top if off with a clear coat, and you've got a Rover more saturated than a Pixar film. The two coats of ChromaFlair combine with the metallic base to reflect an array of colors as light bounces off the layers. #chromaflair #rangerover #paintsplus
