(Iv been very delayed on posting my personal feedback on items and vendors from the @halaalgoodsmarket that took place last weekend but here goes.) So its a given that im an absolute foodie. On a normal day I can absolutely forget to eat (lol yeh that happens alot) but really food is a passion to me. Preparing it, eating it, trying out new flavours and palletes and experiencing new cultures. I love indian food, fusion flavours, mexican, italian, thai, fast food and chinese food. One thing is for sure I love love love food that bursts with flavour and texture and do not do well to blane food. Thats just not me. I cnt do plain spagetti or noodles. Pack on the chilli and we good to go. Or even a sauce thats flavourful.
Ok now that thats out of the way lets dive into this. I had heard from a friend that @bluegingersa was going to be a vendor at the hgm and that ive gota try it as I love @simplyasia cuisine or any thai and chinese establishment thats serves a good stir fry or noodle meal.
This husband and wife duo team have taken the chinese halaal food scene in jozi by storm. Serving up authentic chinese style food to us indian peeps. The chicken chow mein was superb. A blend of egg noodles, chicken strips and a multitude of crunchy fresh vegies all combined with a mix of spices and sauces to yield an asthetically pleasing dish that looks wonderful and tastes even better.
The serving sizes are big and the food is packaged very nicely with reheating instrustions. That worked out well as I couldnt finish all in one sitting. Upon reheating the vegies still stayed crunchy and no flavour was lost of the dish. Packaged along was extra serving of chilli if you would like to pack on the heat but I felt I didnt need any as it was fiery and flavourful as prepared and also a pair of chopsticks. Ideal for the dish or if you dnt already know how to use them to practice your skills.
The establishment has exceeded my expectations and I will definately patron their pop ups. They serving up good food and something they are fimiliar with not just throwing ingredients together. I would definately recomend you try the food if you looking for asian cuisine.
