On this last day of spring it seems fitting to document the starring role chive blossoms played in so many of our meals these past few weeks. All alliums are powerful and delicious herbal medicine but chive blossoms in all their pretty-in-pink (or purple) beauty have a special place in my heart.💗✨💜
In order, swiping right: 1) our hard-boiled eggs with homemade mayo mixed up with chive blossoms, garnished with chive blossoms (a bit meta, no?) 2) flower salad 3) egg sandwich topped with chive blossom mayo (spoiler alert, there's a strong egg and chive blossom theme to this post) 4) more flower salad 5) chive blossoms in egg salad 6) chive blossom quiche 7) stir fry of asparagus, shiitakes, and chive blossoms AND 8) that requisite beauty, chive blossom vinegar, this one in local apple cider vinegar.
Our chive blossoms are about to go by and I've harvested my last batch, leaving the rest for all the pollinators who love these spicy spring pompoms. See you next June, chive friends. #lastdayofspring #chiveblossoms #ridgepondkitchen #everydayherbs
