We live in a world where speed is everything. Faster internet connection, quicker meals, faster results. Same goes for #workouts - we want to get in, sweat quickly and get out.
However, when it comes to our bodies, our #fitness and general mental wellbeing, speed isn't always what it's cracked up to be. Here’s why....
High intensity workouts are great for fitness, endorphins and weight loss. I love them but, too much of this kind of workout can also cause injury and higher levels of stress on the body.
Studies also show that people who do lots of high intensity exercise tend not to move so much during the day. You’re increasing your calorie burn and fitness on the one hand, but you're more likely to feel you deserve a little (or long) sit down, which reduces your calorie burn and day to day fitness.
You have to find a balance. Whether its regular walks, stretching, meditation, yoga or whatever else floats your boat, achieving balance will help you to find a higher level of fitness and hopefully happiness.
