To all our loyal followers, we apologise for the lack of recent reviews but rest assured we have been eating parmas every single Monday night, just haven’t been reviewing them.
Anyway, this week’s was a beauty. The Montague in South Melbourne had a great modern aesthetic with a lovely quiet vibe for a Monday night, perfect for a few quiet ones and a rippa parma with the lads. The parma came out after about 25 minutes — piping hot with an aroma that was absolutely divine.
This was decent sized parma, well worth the $24 price tag. Toppings were on point; plenty of flavoursome Napoli and a dreamy mozzarella to die for. These days ham usually gets lost amidst all the flavours of any great chicken parma, although that was not the case with this one, very tasty and not overwhelmed by the other toppings.
Crumbing was cooked to perfection with that great crunch we all love, coating the juicy bird hiding beneath. As mentioned, this chicken was piping hot and stayed that way till the very last bite, which is great. Our only comment would be that we could have done with some thicker cuts of chicken, but not a show stopper.
The wild green salad was quite good, complimenting the generous serving of fries which came with tomato sauce - a very simple, minor detail but very much appreciated and excites us more than it probably should. #condimentsarelife
