Not a day goes by when I don’t imagine what life would be like had my father not pass away. Every situation that I find myself in (family function, shopping at Home Depot, playing with my children) I imagine a scenario where he is present and sharing in the moments.
We recently celebrated Father’s Day and I have to admit that like every year I am a little envious of all the people who get to spoil their dads that day. His birthday then followed Father’s Day one week later and so for these few days my heart continues to mourn and my mind wonders what I can now do to pay tribute and give thanks to the best man I ever knew.
This year, thanks to the help of a great community leader (and my brother Juan), I was able to a do something different. After weeks of preparation I was able to celebrate, give tribute, and respect to the man who impacted my life more than anyone could have in my first 21 years of life through public art. Here it is.
Can’t wait for that grand day when the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God the believers who have died will rise from their graves, and I will be able to embrace my father once again.
Happy 64th birthday pops.
Happy birthday Mr. Barry Allen.
