What's a better breakfast when feeling ill than a @deliciouslyella inspired baked banana, blueberry, raspberry and raison oatmeal? topped with goji berries and a drizzle of agave nectar 🍓

A fruit and granola bowl is the simplest, easiest and quickest breakfast. This morning I used the @primroseskitchen orange/ cashew granola, strawberries, banana, blueberries and vanilla chia pudding. Poured a dash of oat milk over the granola.

The chia seed is nutrient-dense and packs a punch of energy-boosting power. Aztec warriors ate chia seeds to give them high energy and endurance. They said just one spoonful of chia could sustain them for 24 hours. Chia means “strength” in the Mayan language, and chia seeds were known as “runners’ food” because runners and warriors would use them as fuel while running long distances or during battle.

The reason chia seeds are so beneficial is due to them being rich in fiber, omega-3 fats, protein, vitamins and minerals.

Chia seeds also contain essential fatty acids alpha-linolenic and linoleic acid; mucin; strontium’ vitamins A, B, E and D; and minerals, including sulphur, iron, iodine, magnesium, manganese, niacin and thiamine; and they’re a rich source of antioxidants.

(Makes 3 Servings)
Add 2 cups of almond milk, 2 pitted Medjool dates, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Pour mixture into a large bowl and add 1/2 cup chia seeds. Mix well and then divide the mixture between three jars or glasses. Cover and put into the fridge to set overnight. When set, layer with your favorite toppings. Enjoy! ✨

👉Add 1 Tbsp chia seeds to 12 oz water, plus 1 tsp maple syrup for sweetness (optional). You can also add 1/4 cup frozen wild blueberries and a squeeze of lime. Shake it all up in a glass jar and let sit for 20 minutes.

Before the fast make sure to fill up on high fiber foods and protein, rather than empty carbs so you’ll stay full longer.

I also always have a bottle of Excedrin with caffeine that I use once a year minutes before the fast starts. This helps with the caffeine headache you tend to get during the later part of the fast.

Break the fast with water and fruit first if you can before anything else.
