includes a remarkable collection of both fiction and documentary films which tackle some of the most compelling human and civil rights concerns of our times. The six films selected explore a diverse range of issues from immigration to civil rights, sexual identity to gender equality, and the ongoing and recently volatile debate of race in America. The film series is intended to promote tolerance and understanding, and to initiate open and meaningful discussions about important issues and ideas that shape our lives. “This collection of films offers rich insight into our society and culture, and connect us to some of our proudest and most shameful moments in American history,” said UDC President Ronald Mason, Jr. “These are movies that everyone should see, and UDC is proud to make them available to the public.” #udcfirebirds #udc1851 #udcfilmfestival #film #filmfestival #checkit #sinombre #la92 #whathappenedmisssimone #iamnotyournegro #queenkatwe #chess #kids
