@craigilypuf is hosting the second annual WoDs for Wishes Charity Competition at @alchemycrossfit on Saturday June 9. The event is held in tribute to his older brother Jenner, who passed away from liver cancer at age 11.
Before his passing, however, the Children’s Wish Foundation made it possible for Jenner to experience some necessary childlike joy. In his case, it was a laptop and Toronto Maple Leafs memorabilia, which he treasured. His joyful receipt of these gifts illuminated one of the darkest periods of the Latendresse family’s life.
Says Craig: “Having a moment that wasn't about the sickness made all the difference to us. This charity is extremely close to my heart and the reason I run this event when I do is because I want something good to come out of my brother's passing” and to “give something back to the countless families who are living the same struggle that my family faced. I feel so loved by the community at Alchemy— a community that has changed my life— and want everyone to feel the same sense of pride and accomplishment that I do for supporting this cause. We have raised over $5,000 to date and have run an event in his name since 2013. As with every year, I vow to match 100 per cent of the money we bring in for this event.” His goal is to raise $6000.
