While I was completing my jewelry training, every project was a dream. I had a theme, guidelines, time, purpose, and the thing that helps me the most: constrictions of some sort.
Almost at the end, La Roche-Posey challenged us students: they wanted to help build the new burnt unit of a Children’s Hospital while doing some promotion on its own, of course. They asked us to create pieces that would allude to its own Eau Thermal. These pieces were to be auctioned on a cocktail and the money would revert to the Hospital. Did I mention they paid for the material. Student that I was, used to working with zero money, I was decided to make the most of it! By then I was already very much into relicaries of any sort and glass. I made a first version of this piece I now show you, it was a silver container that could carry water 💦, where each lid on each side had a convex lens. If it hung from your neck, you could see the floor. Only you wouldn’t see yourself in your shoes, if anyone was standing in front of you, you would see each other in each other’s shoes. Thinking of the burnt kids, it made sense to me that we could for a second think “what is that was me?”. The auction went really well, but I never forgot this project. A few months ago I got Back to it. Different shape, same purpose ❤️ this is the “In the other one’s shoes” series and I’ll be showing you some of the pieces
Tag anyone you’d want to see in your shoes !
