One of the big bottlenose dolphins swimming around the kayak by Fort George. Taken on my phone so not the best quality, sorry folks.
No sea kayakers were harmed during these photos.... Everyones always so worried about the dolphins, they are much faster than us, heavier than us and if they really wanted to could have us over with a flick of their tail. But they are so inquisitive and come right up to you. Four swam beside the two sea kayaks back to Chanonry Point with us.
Chanonry Point is world famous as the best place in Britain to watch bottle nose dolphins from the shore. It's a spit of land which extends over a mile into the Moray Firth from Fortrose and Rosemarkie.
I was amazed at how many dolphins I saw swim past.
In about 1675 the point was where Kenneth Mackenzie or Coinneach Odhar is said to have met his end. He's better known as the Brahan Seer or Highland Nostradamus.
