🏀⚽️🎾🏉 Training for power may be the most important part of training for an athlete
The truth is that many athletes spend far too much time strength training and far too little time training for power.
❗️ It’s important to train power in all movement plans and not only on the sagittal one.
Taking inspiration from speed master @leetaft, a lateral (frontal plane) power drills progression is shown in this video.
⏩ Ice skater is basically a lateral bound and repeat back and forth. Load the leg and push off, stick the landing and hold. You can increase load moving faster.
⏩ In Ice skater with cross reaching we gonna load hip rotators and pelvis stabilizers.
⏩ Adding bands are not only a great way to add some accommodating resistance but also a great way to decrease some of the pounding that the landing places on athlete.
In this case I use Keiser power rack cables with Perform Better belt instead of elastic bands to keep the same load during the whole movement.

Warrior Workout Components: Part IV - Speed, Agility & Quickness•

Speed, Agility and Quickness (SAQ) is the next component of the Warrior Workout. The purpose of SAQ is multi-faceted and specific to the exercise or activity performed.•

Lunges are shown in the first video demonstration. Typically, lunges are considered to be more of a Movement Prep exercise but have been included in the SAQ section because of their importance in teaching deceleration and shock absorption in dynamic lower body exercises.•

Often times, individuals want to start with getting quicker and faster before learning to control that speed. If your car go can fast but has no brakes, you are on a collision course. Likewise, if you want your body to move fast but don’t know how to slow it down - you may be setting yourself up for failure.•

Also demonstrated is medicine ball drills. After deceleration is learned, learning to produce force quickly is the next step. Whether you are a combat athlete needing to increase striking power or elderly and needing to stimulate a broad array of muscle fibers or improve reaction time, medicine balls provide an opportunity to improve these qualities.•

The agility ladder is the last series of exercises demonstrated. Agility work has direct carryover to the footwork demands of many combat sports and has functional carryover to the general fitness needs of the general population by increasing coordination, reaction time and balance.•

SAQ is ideal after the previous Warrior Workout components that comprised the warm-up, but before the Metabolic Conditioning section to be covered in Part V. The SAQ section should last 5-10 mins (max)•
