Your soul is trying to tell you something.
We call Shimla the city of love and romance... but is it really?
Shimla and romance, they go together like champagne and oysters, café and snow, hills and heritage, which is why loved up couples make a pilgrimage to the Himachal capital every year on Summer, Valentine's Day, New Year, Christmas and winter's.
With the grand, Ridge ground, as well as the charming cobbled streets of Middle bazaar and the Lakkar bazaar, it’s no wonder Shimla is said to be one of the most beautiful cities in India.
The city preserves its famous Kalka-Shimla railway line under Unesco #heritage protection and the carefully preserved buildings from #British era may go some way to explaining the romantic appeal of Shimla. “I think people come because it’s beautiful”. A stroll through the famous Mall road hand-in-hand is certainly more romantic than a bus or Metro ride, and Shimla’s small size and wide streets mean it’s ideal for walking and taking in the scenery.
You can’t get lost, and there’s always something #beautiful around the next corner.
What is any romantic occasion without #goodfood and drink? Shimla’s restaurants and illustrious gastronomic history make it a top #destination for romance-seekers. “For the people, the pull is very much #food and wine and #champagne” says a owner of tour company.
Combining #traditionally elegant or cosy #restaurants with the backdrop of romantic architecture, you can see why dinner for two in #Shimla is an appealing thought for many couples.
The Shimlaiets are definitely more #passionate, more flirtatious. We do have this seductive quality, we’re not afraid to follow our passions, which I think is key.
Add this typical Pahadi “passion” to an aesthetically #charming city, then you’ve got a recipe for a #romance. ✒ #ShimlaLife
