Zach William’s has a beautiful song out called “Chain Breaker”. It was on the radio this morning as Reed and I were driving to school. I want to share with you our conversation.
Reed: Mom you know he says “tired of same old life?” “I know why he says that.” Me: “You do?” Reed: “Yes. It’s because when we get to heaven we get a new life.” Cue the tears.
Friends. Those are not even the correct lyrics to the song. He was so convicted by what he thought he heard that he had to tell me.
The truth is whether the lyrics state, “We’ve all found ourselves worn out from the same old fight” or Reed’s version with “same old life”, he’s right.
Whether we believe in a higher power or not, we can have a brand new life.
We can be chain breakers.
We can seek the freedom we absolutely deserve.
We don’t have to be bound by imaginary chains that we have put on ourselves. Those “things” that hold us back are keeping us from becoming who we really are in all aspects of life.
Sometimes though...one thing will happen and it will set us on fire enough to take a chainsaw and break/cut through those chains.
Your story could be debt, it could be a relationship, it could be an experience, a job, a significant loss....it can be anything.
It can be that a sick kiddo that makes you decide you want to take your wellness into your own hands. It can be that you no longer want to be tied down to a desk job. It could be that you see certain tendencies in your kid and you refuse to put them on certain medicines for it. It could be that traveling to another country allows you to see how much our world is sad and sick and how we need to be the change and stand up for something.
Whatever it is, I give you permission to break the chains and soar. Better yet, fly. Fly as fast and as far as you can and do not stop until you have done and seen every single thing you want too.
Need help breaking those chains? I got you.
