It's #FRIDAYINTRODUCTIONS !! And this week Coach Kaytlain is up! When Kaytlain isn't spending time on her studies at Fresno State she's coaching at a CrossFit gym in Fresno throughout the week and here at CrossFit West Visalia with us on the weekends. But, before CrossFit Kaytlain was an all-around athlete, participating in numerous sports such as breakdancing, volleyball, soccer and running cross country just to name a few. Then, in November of 2012 Kaytlain and her family (the Hernadez family!) joined us. Initially when she had joined she knew nothing about the CF background, didn't even know anyone who was involved with CF or that it was a competitive sport. She had primarily started coming to our box because she was looking to gain muscle. She didn't realize that after a short period of time it would change her outlook on fitness. Kaytlain says (about CrossFit), "it's not just about diet and exercise, it's about being mentally tough and accepting that there are good days and bad days--it's all part of the journey." She also says that being at our box has brought her out of her shell and helped her realize that she thrives off of helping others improve their daily lives! Some current goals of Kaytlain's include graduating from Fresno State with a B.S. in Animal Science Pre-Vet, getting her CF-L2 cert and getting a "a freakin muscle up"! (lol)
A Tip from Coach: Don't expect every day to be a PR kind of day. Listen to your body and don't be pressured to do more than what you can--you don't have to go 100% if your body is only feeling 70%. The fitness journey is different for everyone, so don't compare your weaknesses to other people's strengths.
