After a wonderful morning Coffee date, I received this message from my teammate. One of her goals was weight loss and slow and steady she is reaching her goal, but wait there is more we spoke the other night and she told me how she is jogging 25-30min and she is not only feeling amazing but she has so much energy now. NOW, if you know me I was dancing PUNTA all over my house. There is just something about people telling me how good they are feeling, when they start jogging maybe a minute to 5minutes more than usual and doing things that make them happy. πŸ’ƒπŸ½

Borough número ✌🏽MAY 20, 2017 ~Airbnb Brooklyn Half 13.1.
On a Beautiful Saturday Morning we were ready to run the streets of Brooklyn. The race takes you by the Brooklyn Museum, circle the Grand Army plaza where the crowd is cheering you on, carrying funny signs and some live music to keep us going. From here we run straight to the hilly prospect park (beautiful park btw) and saw a couple getting married πŸ‘°πŸ½ πŸ’πŸ€΅πŸ½ they were runners who had met at this race (something like that) and they were schedule to marry inside and would then finish the race as a married couple so freaking BEAUTIFUL πŸ’ (hint hint to my husband😘😜)...We cheered them on and kept running down to Ocean Parkway which was Mile 6 where it's a straight road to Coney Island. The entire parkway is closed for us runners like HOLY MOLY! I swear I love it when is runner close down the streets, it's the best feeling in the world 🌎.
I was in pain the last couple of miles, then Mother Nature decided to really test me and add rain along the the last 1 mile 1/2 that I had left of this race. Though I was in pain, and I felt like I couldn't, I pushed my little legs even though at one point I couldn't even feel them. I remember this gentleman telling me "keep it up your almost there" he was also singing in the rain, then this lady grabbed my hand and told me "you got this don't give up now", She even shouted "the finish line is just a few feet away" but it felt like I had another 10miles to go. I can hear the announcer guy screaming people names, the crowd cheering, as I was about to enter the boardwalk. Then once I got to the boardwalk I was just a few feet away from the finish line when I just gave it my all. I couldn't even breathe πŸ˜‚ I swear I felt like my legs were going so fast but it was taking forever to reach that finish line. The more I pushed the more I felt that finish line was never getting near and that I was running but not really moving. Then BOOM! I Stomped on that damn finish line and just cried. Happy tears but had to 😭 let it all out. This just meant another medal under my belt, another borough completed and how close I am to running NYC 26.2

Have you ever had a dream so big that when you think about, you get this crazy tingling feeling inside of you. You can picture your face expression, the way you will get there, the cries, the hugs, the balloons, the shout outs. Like Miss Congeniality when she is practicing her pose for the big win. βž–
On Sunday, I will be completing my 3rd Marathon. The marathon I have vision since 2015. If all goes as plan I will have completed all 5 boroughs along with 26.2 to officially say β€œI run this city” βž–
Each and every time I think about this marathon I get goosebumps, I can see myself running the streets, I can hear the people screaming my name, I even can see the finish line. NYC Marathon is one of the biggest marathon in history. I have been planning this race and this year since 2015. The birthday gift I gave myself this year as I turn 30 years old in May is the 5 boroughs running series & the marathon. After this race I plan to take a break from 26.2 Miles for a few years, not sure where my fitness journey may take me, but for now I will take you back to the beginning of 2017. I plan to share with you the next 5 days all 5 borough races that leads to the big day. My highs & lows, what I learned and maybe a bit more.
Not sure what you may get out of this for the next 5 days, but my hope is that you begin to make your dreams a reality whether its something you have been thinking about for 2 years or 20 years, just make it happen! Take that step and go for it.. βž–
March 19th, 2017 ~ The United Airlines NYC Half 13.1 Miles.
This day I remember it clearly, I was so nervous, I had barely trained because honestly I dislike winter training. I prefer to stay home with hot cocoa and cuddling up with the kids then get up and run outside or trying to heat my car on my way to the gym. The most I trained for this race was 6 miles at most. When the day came, I woke up and told myself β€œJust get to the finish line, Christy” I had no finish time goal I just wanted to do the race and get home. It was cold and I had barely slept thinking about this race.

I was recently told it's impossible for a woman to fall in love with her body. Woman will never be love with who she is and what she has. Woman are always looking for a change and they will never be able to see their true beauty within. β€’
The problem is that the media, people's opinions and what we see everyday in this life we put our focus on others perception of beauty and we forget what it is to see the beauty within ourselves. β€’
For many of us we grow up thinking Skinny is beautiful, a certain skin color is beautiful, hair type, weight & size. If you are not this type of person they describe you are not beautiful. β€’
I remember a time when I was to embarrassed to show I have stomach rolls even after losing weight because I grew up thinking if you have stomach rolls that was ugly. I grew up thinking as a #latina woman I must be skinny to be loved. A size 10 meant you are fat and you must automatically go on a diet and if you are on dieting and you are not losing the weight fast enough, you can go get surgery to cut the fat out. I considered surgery many times but the thought of going on a table to get cut up scared me and to do this to be accepted messed with my head many times. People do surgery for many reasons and nothing wrong with it my only hope is that you fall in love with yourself either way, but I personally didn't want to do it so that I can be considered Beautiful. So that I can be looked at and be told "oh she is skinny and beautiful" and continue the pattern that only skinny is beauty. That curves, stretch marks, overlap stomach, thick thighs is something woman shouldn't have. Also, you must only be a certain size to be a beautiful woman. β€’
There is simply nothing wrong with the body you have. What you are struggling with is the definition of beauty. Beauty is YOU.

From all my races this is the first time I took off my shirt and felt so damn sexy running the Bronx streets.
I have stretch marks, I have cellulite, I have stomach rolls, my body was jiggling all 10 Miles. But I felt so free, beautiful and strong.
Ladies start loving all of you.
I have been a size 0,4,8,10,16 & 1x - what I have learned from being all different size is the size doesn't matter, the shape does not matter if you are not in love with yourself.
I was once a size 4 was unhappy. I was a size 16 was unhappy. I knew then I must change how I view myself. I had to start practicing Love within me. Be in love with this body that Was given to me. Since practicing love with me so much has changed. Since then I am not ashamed of what size/shape I am. What matters is how I feel now and I feel damn sexyyyy ❀️

BX 10 Miler gets me all the time. The crowd was amazing, the DJs were popping and though it's hot I managed to PR a minute and felt so good throughout the race.
Yes I took off my shirt and rocked my #curves @ceoofmycurves was representing in the Bronx! I felt so sexy running the streets in my tank top and representing women everywhere that we can love our body.
I was surprised to see my dad by mile 7 I literally cried then when I saw my husband almost at the finish line it made this race so much better.

Start building a relationship with yourself by talking to yourself with love and accepting where you are right now in your life. Don't feel because you are not "perfect" there is something wrong with you.. Which btw there is no perfect. -
We just grew up in an environment that felt that we had to be a certain way, act a certain way, look a certain way to be perfect and if you didn't it was just wrong. But I am here to tell you that there is nothing wrong with you. You are perfectly fine just the way you are. Your personality, your size, your shape thats all you GIRL, so don't be afraid to show others who you are and that you love yourself just the way you are. -

What I love most about the gym today and any other day is watching people from all different ages, sizes getting their fit on. Older men in their 60-70s playing racquetball having a good time, the bodybuilders lifting heavier and heavier on each set, the ladies in zumba class, the other women & men in the machines just getting it done. They were lifting, spotting, running, walking or the elliptical. -
No judgement at all just there doing their thing. We are all there in the gym taking care of ourselves a day at a time. -
I swear I was giving each of them a round of applause secretly while I was on the stairmaster, but it made me think of the millions of others that are in the gym or just working out. Who keep going when they are not seeing results right away, who go just to forget the stress on their day, whether they go once a week or 5x a week they go to they gym because it makes them feel good. -
The gym is not a one size only gym. Fitness is not a one size only crew!!! It's all size, ages and shapes coming together and doing the thing that makes us feel good for about 30minutes. Fitness is supposed to be fun. Fitness can be done anywhere. Fitness is whatever makes you feel good 😊 yoga, dancing, lifting, running, etc etc.
Christy, where are you going with this? the next time you think you can't do something because of your size or weight. Or you want to start going to the gym but to afraid of others looking at you. Think about what I wrote about fitness. Fitness is not a one size only crew. It's all sizes getting their extra bit of awesomeness.

I am also doing the Ashley Horner challenge, and this week topic was "What is your Why on doing this Challenge?" My WHY for this 10 Week challenge is to be stronger, love myself more, prove to myself all that I can do AND show other they can too start loving, caring for themselves. Fit is not a size it's a feeling. -
Congrats to everyone at this race it was beautiful to see all ages, all body size, all paces come together and cheer each other on.

Ladies today go ahead and tell another woman how GORGEOUS she is. Let's compliment each other more us woman must stand together, work together, compliment each and spread more love on each other. 3 Miles on the treadmill today along with weight lifting dedicated to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Many people need our help. So if you would like to donate there is a virtual race 5K & 10K race where funds will go to Texas Diapers and American Red Cross. Also, Luis and a couple of family & friends adopted a family to help those in need. We will be sending items next week to help this family through this tragic time! I spoke to the family his name is Samuel 70 years old and though this is a tragic time for him and family as they have a lot of damaged in their home he is happy I connected with him and to be alive. He was sharing with me his story in life and everything he has gone through. Can't wait to help him and his family.
If you want to adopt a family or do a virtual run I'll send you the info.. Remember to find an organization that your heart feels right in. For me is running and adopting a family.

Every time I go to the gym I come out feeling so freaking awesome! -
At times I can't believe how my body get stronger by the day, how my body can just handle the workout and everything I do. I feel like it gets just as excited as my heart when I take it care of myself. It gives me that extra boost like"OH YEAHHH" you just lifted that & ran, you just walked up the stairs and hill with no problem!! Has this happen to you guys, when you do something and you look back like oh shoot I just did that? 😜

Do you catch yourself covering your body in pictures because you are not β€œfit enough”
Maybe you put your hand over your stomach or put a family/friend in front of you so that others won’t see how you really look. That way when the picture is taken all they can see is your head and some of your legs.
What about-
I hate taking pictures of myself and
you start mumbling all these things of how
you look, look at my stomach, look at my legs, β€œOh no everyone is going to look at my picture and say how ugly/fat my arms look, my face”
So you kindly say β€œno thank you” to taking a picture because you don’t want others to look at how you look
You stopped taking pictures for years just because and
WHO CARES right?? I mean its just a picture.

Eats with you
Talks with you
Together you have bond since birth and today she is STILL with you.
Who had a baby/babies with you.
Who cries with you
Laughs with you and STARES at you EVERYDAY!

She cares about the way you talk about her
She cares about the thoughts that you have about her
She cares about the way you have covered up for so long because you believe you aren’t beautiful
She has cared all this time you just never gave her chance to love.
She has cared all this time.
She wants you to look at her everyday and be proud
She wants you to love her the way you want to be loved
She wants you to hug, kiss, speak about her the way you want others to speak about you.
