Weekends are for unwinding and connecting back to what matters most.
I've come to find this is a concept frequently left on the sidelines of discussion in the wellness community - the art and importance of slowing down and stopping. Not sleeping. No, not how much you should be sleeping or when, but ceasing. Like, actually ceasing to do all the things because LIFE IS CRAZY AND WHOSE GOT TIME FOR REST AND MY KID JUST POOPED ON THE FLOOR AND LAUNDRY AND OMG WHAT WERE HAVING COMPANY TONIGHT?! *Momentary pause for brief inhalation necessary for sustaining life*
Learning how to really rest has been one the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life. Culturally and historically, were not good at it as a people. But we're also not great at it as individuals. I know life is busy and complicated, I'm not overlooking that or oversimplifying. But we've got to rest. We've got to find out how, and what that means for each of us individually. We've got to find some wide open space and time where we can breathe and sigh and crumble if we need to or sit in the silence or weep or laugh or just BE. Because we need that to live well. We need that to be our best selves. It's my aim to make continue to try and make a practice of rest, just like I would a healthy diet or exercise, or juicing or using oils. I want to learn to move and breathe from a place of rest instead of rush.
How about you? You can go ahead and sigh now. It's ok. Have your shoulders dropped away from your ears yet 😉? If not, let them sink. Take a deep breath and smile.
I don't know about you, but I'm signing off for the weekend; I won't be posting on Sundays. I'll be focused on some good ol' R&R, prayer, connecting with my most favorite people, enjoying good food and art, making room for laughter, and breathing deeply. What are your plans to catch up on soul satisfying rest this weekend? I'd love to know how you're being good to yourself 😘❤️️. Also just a reminder about the GIVEAWAY and your chance to win a #lemonoil from young living! Open for two more days! Details one post behind this one 😊
