We often want to win the battle but we don't want to go to war. However, winning doesn't work like that. @pjimgallagher reminds us this weekend that we will never conquer what we don't fight. It's a requirement for winning. This means we need to be ready for opposition. Ready to get beat up a little. We need to be prepared for attacks and we need to know how to be strong on both the offense and defense. We also must be ready to persevere. Battles are rarely quick and easy. They rarely end without someone getting hurt (likely us). But, if we can stay strong, we can come out of it stronger, better, and closer to the Lord. We can come out of it as a conquerer in Christ.
It's SO easy to get tired of fighting. Tired of fighting a weight issue, a marriage issue, financial issues, life issues. Yet, if we refuse to wave the white flag, cling to the Lord and keep getting up after we get knocked down, we are no longer living a life that just beats us up. We are simply at war. We are fighters because that thing is worth fighting for. “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
