DAY 3️⃣1️⃣8️⃣ - CAPE BRETON BEACH FIRE
About this exact time last year, I enjoyed 3 nights of beachside campfires with my friends @shankjennings @chillinwithbernie and #AlexMartin , so it only seemed right to light one up since I was back in Cape Breton.
We stopped to catch the last bit of sunset on our way, and then set up a nice fire and cooked some salmon, potatoes and asparagus right on the fire! And it was damn good.
We also splurged with some @tatabrewco Deception Bay IPA and holy shit that stuff is so good....
I took a minute to lay back on the rocks and listen to the crackle of the fire, the waves crashing maybe 30 feet away, crickets, giggles and French conversation from @cath.be and our new friend Marie-Allène and I just stared up at a FULL sky of beautiful stars and a clear view of the Milky Way.
I tried my best to soak the moment in, and to understand how lucky I am to be able to experience something like this, and I think I did an alright job.
I also realized that I had actually FORGOTTEN about the stars. I couldn't remember the last time I'd actually thought about the fact that we are on a tiny rock suspended in an endless universe of planets and stars and who knows what else.
If anything I think this just confirmed that I was exactly where I was supposed to be, sharing a beautiful moment with two other humans, because at the end of our lives, those are the moments that count.
Once again, finding myself overwhelmed with gratitude and a desire to get back out there 🙏🏻.
