For those who run the @arb4x4 12v dual compressor, this are the two 40 amp maxi fuses that came with the system, both blown! I have spent a couple of hours trying to figure out why this happened! I will share my findings, hopefully this will save time to someone going through the same dilemma! PLEASE automotive electrical savvy people share your knowledge and opinions!
1.- ARB dual compressor draws 56amps at full power but comes with two 40amp fuses - This is because those 56 amps are split between the two compressors.
2.- Using smaller diameter wire to make the supplied wire longer will generate more amp draw - Not my case, I'm using the supplied wire with soldered terminals not crimped.
3.- What did I do differently? I aired up 4 35" tires from 15 to 37psi with the hood closed right after wheeling! How can this cause the fuse to blow? Engine bay is hot from the engine the compressor, wires, connectors etc are already hot because of this, inflating 4 tires at the same time produces more heat on this components, so hot wires increases amp draw! That's why the 40 amp fuses failed.
Please correct me if I'm wrong!
