Just finished this book (love Saturday lie ins)
As a mother of two boys with dyslexia, I really like the fact it talks about children at school. Those who do really well are more likely to be seduced down more traditional routes/paths where creativity gets stifled. My boys underperform at school, but It’s not because there is anything wrong with them. The problem is entirely with an education system which doesn’t have much space for those who aren’t good all rounders. Sadly there isn’t a core subject of Rubin’s cube completing!! More broadly, it’s a book filled with studies, science and therefore insight I trust. I like conclusions from which we can draw and generalise the findings. I’m of the view the content you share needs to be practical and evidence based so that there is more likelihood others can learn and benefit. A great story, whilst inspirational and entertaining, isn’t something we can generalise from. What works for one doesn’t work for all. Humans are annoyingly individual with their own personalities, strengths, abilities and values.
It’s a brilliant book, written with wit and communicated through human stories, but backed up with science. All my boxes ticked. Enjoy!
