During all these years i have been eating rawvegan, the way i designed my diet always followed the needs of my body (& my soul, and sometimes those of my emotions ;) ). For many years, it perfectly corresponded to the label of "80/10/10", for a shorter period of time it was mainly hippocratic (not for long, though i kept several elements of this way of eating). Now, it turned to lowcarb and keto. And it was always very high in greens! Overall, i like to describe it as natural and instinctive eating, based on my love for me and all other beings.
Tonite's meal, zoodles with corn, would have fit perfectly into 80/10/10, as it is mainly carbs and no fat. For now, it was another carb refeed. Inspired by this wonderful, perfectly ripe corn i found at the farmers' market. Yummy!.

Well THAT escalated quickly! 😳
My GOAL was to keep my calories at roughly 2500 while increasing my carbs to 300g for the day and reducing my protein to compensate.
What ACTUALLY happened is that I turned into Cookie Monster.
Not only was I eating everything in sight but I was STARVING at the same time!
I don’t care what anyone says, carbs are insidious and they wreak havoc on my appetite.
I ate almost DOUBLE my daily calories and I could have eaten WAY MORE!
Now, I had an amazing sleep and I’m sure today’s leg workout will be AWESOME thanks to the extra carbs and calories.
I’m just hoping that I stoked the fire so to speak and haven’t derailed the train.

Even though we cut back steady state cardio, I dropped a tad more weight than I should have this week so 300g carb refeed day it is!

So far my snacks have been:
• rice cakes
• white potato
• cereal • protein pancake
• crunchy chickpeas
• German choc cake protein balls ( post soon to come)
• Pint of @halotopcreamery (dinner treat)

I literally have veins coming up my stomach from all the treats. It’s insane.

When one does a re-feed like this it’s important to do a full body, high rep workout to help with glycogen storage (video soon to come)

Today is my 3rd refeed day leading up to the Toronto Pro Show.
I weighed in this morning at 229.8 lbs which is up slightly from a few days ago.
On the 2nd pic, the green dots indicate where a refeed happened and the red dot is today’s refeed. And while my weight spiked post-refeed, it dropped below pre-refeed levels over time.
That’s the whole point of a refeed.
Temporarily elevate leptin levels and metabolism to signal to the body that it’s safe to continue burning fat.
I’m a LITTLE concerned about my weight increasing over the last two days since I haven’t changed my diet.
I’ll have to take a look at the actual Diary pages in My Fitness Pal to see if I was doing something weird.
I’m reigning in today’s refeed and trying to keep my calories roughly the same while getting 300g of carbs in.

relativity ;) ... after having been eating less than 20g carbs per day for about 8 weeks now (and feeling fine with it), i tried something like a carb refeed today ... well, i actually only made it to 42g carbs the whole day, instead of 50g extra only for dinner, as eating raw and high green IS low in carbs. and i still do not feel like eating sweet fruit again. so, while for me, it was a day high in carbs, it would still meet the limits if a lowcarb diet, and even for a moderate keto diet. :)
i had zucchini noodles, sea spaghetti and, of course ;) , lettuce, with tomato sauce and corn. yummy! but i am not used to eat such a voluminous meal anymore :) ... .
