Lionsrock run by Fourpaws, is a special sanctuary for rescued big cats. This lady named 'Gypsy' sadly passed away a few months ago - she had stunted bones which made her legs shorter than what they should have been, affecting her ability to walk distances.

Lion farmers did that to her and is why we only work with such reputable sanctuaries we trust.

The greatest fear in the world is the opinions of others & the moment you are unafraid of the crowd you are no longer a sheep you become a lion. A great roar arises in your heart, a roar of freedom...

A lioness from the Ntsevu pride looks up from drinking towards where she had heard a distant alarm bark from an nyala.
The pride was found trailing a large herd of buffalo yesterday afternoon, but after following the herd well into the evening and making a number of attempts, it seemed that the defense the big Buffalo bulls were putting up was impregnable and the lions were found this morning still looking relatively hungry.

HELP US SAVE LIONS

Distressing image of one of the escaped Kruger #lions, shot & killed by a farmer.
Captured In Africa Foundation work directly with authorities, farmers, communities, professional Vets, aviation professionals and other sources to mitigate such avoidable deaths.

Recently, CIAF director & founder Drew Abrahamson did just that to intervene on another escaped lion incident. Without your funds, then CIAF would not be in the position to help.

It's unfortunate that these lions were killed, but please let us learn from this situation and understand. If we can do this, then working together can lead to better conservation and saving wildlife we desperately need to hold on to.

Please donate to our efforts. Details below;

MALAMALA TODAY: July 10th. There was so much action in the southwestern corner of our reserve today that we didn't even venture into other areas! The Bicycle Crossing male leopard was found first this morning walking west from Zebra Skull South- he's looking strong for an old guy. Next up were the 3 young male lions from the Marthly pride- they were feeding on a buffalo kill in the Sand River along Sibuye Drive with about 15 hyenas lurking nearby. Just opposite them, on the western bank of the Sand River, was a male cheetah! Not an area in which we normally see these cats! Our pleasant surprise soon turned into an adrenaline rush as he ran in twice on impala, narrowly missing on both occasions. The Teardrop female leopard and her 2 cubs were then found just a bit further south and east of the lions and cheetah- along River Rocks Rd. They had an impala kill stashed up in a tree. Early into our afternoon safari we discovered a herd of buffalo amongst a large herd of elephants in the Sand River, south of its confluence with the Rock Drift Donga. Close inspection of our surrounds soon revealed a number of lions further to our south, the Eyrefield pride. The buffalo were walking straight towards them! The 3 hours that followed were exhilarating with constant interaction between the lions and buffalo. The lions would run in, miss, then the herd would stampede after them. This scene repeated itself many times and when we eventually left the area the lions were still trailing the herd. For a glimpse into the days sightings check out our Instagram Story. A lioness shows her strength, dragging a half eaten buffalo carcass across closer to her cubs. A few seconds later, two cubs came over to eat. Amazing time spent with this pride of lionesses and youngsters.

Destroying a Species.

Why do we need to trade in lion bones?

As is the case with rhinos, elephants and pangolins - the toxic, profit focussed #lion bone trade, involves a dead animal in order to achieve this ugly trade. Whether legal or illegal, there are no parameters. It’s a lion lost to mythical obnoxiousness, a lion lost to closed minded arrogance from those unable to look far enough in front of their own thought, that need to acquire an object, a status symbol, a myth… and the only legend people will speak of in 100 years’ time, is not those arrogant “acquirers” of objects, it’ll be the mighty African Lion… once in their abundance, now extinct, as mankind looks back on a time when lions roamed those vast sun-kissed African plains.
A lion’s true value is LIVING.

Nobody needs Ivory by an Elephant.
Nobody needs a Horn but a Rhino.
Nobody needs their bones but a Lion.
