(Bali: part 4/4)
Sometimes I go surf and I feel like I’m in the perfect position and the waves come right to me. Other days, I feel like I spend my whole time paddling in circles, never in the right place when the set comes in. That sums up Bali but finally on our last week, we found that perfect position in Canggu.
As much as I love to rough it. There are some comforts I can’t do without anymore.
In Canggu, we found comfort, community, kindness, peace, appreciation, and so many fun waves. It’s just different here. Maybe in the ritual of lighting the incense in their daily offerings they have created space in their hearts and minds to align their purpose with their actions. Maybe in having so little, they have room to receive so much more. Maybe all the travelers who feel at home here have given back to the local community enough to make their lives more comfortable.
Whatever it was, it was special. There was a feeling of being home because that's what happens when you travel. Wherever your soul feels happy, you feel at home.
Part of me regretted that we hadn't spent our whole trip here even though a friend even told us to go to Canggu. But Gabi helpfully reminded us, that if we had come with the intention to stay in Canggu the whole time, we wouldn't have even come to Bali because we wouldn't have been able to afford accommodation here for that long.
Though we didn't get a whole month in Canggu, I'm grateful for the time we did get here because it left me with positive feelings toward Bali and I will definitely be back here again!
