Ah, Clive Barker. I’ve never been that big of a fan, to be honest. Pinhead is great, of course, but the movies degenerated quickly after the first two. He just never lived up to the promise that the cover quote from Stephen King foretold. That being said, the Books of Blood are pretty solid. There are some great names here too. ‘Books of Blood.’ ‘Inhuman Condition.’ ‘The Age if Desire.’ Great stuff. Story-wise, ‘The Body Politic’ is an original concept story that is very well executed. ‘Son of Celluloid’ is another in the same vein. ‘Rawhead Rex’ is a fun monster story. I always enjoy those. I think they may have made a movie from that one. Finally, these two don’t have ‘The Forbidden,’ but that is the story Candyman is based on. The story is very different but good in more abbreviated way. It’s one of the few instances where you could argue the movie is better. The story was so short, and Candyman really expanded on the concept. Anyone have a favorite Clive Barker story or line?
