"The Canadian silver dollar was first issued by the Royal Canadian mint in 1935 to commemorate the silver jubilee of King George V. The coins reverse design was sculpted by Emanuel Huhn and portrays a voyageur and  a person of indigenous descent paddling a birch-bark canoe. The faint lines in the background represent the Northern Lights. The voyageur design was used on the dollar until 1986." #silver#dollar#bullion#canadiansilver

The twenty-cent denomination was very popular in Newfoundland and was minted on a consistent basis throughout the reign of Queen Victoria. Over the years the piece became unpopular with Canadians as it was easily confused with the Canadian 25¢, which was similar in size and shape. Pressured by Canada, the government replaced it with a 25¢ coin during WWI........... #canadiansilver#silver#bullion#coins

Some years ago, we received a call from a colleague that had a piece of silver marked P M with a pellet in between the letters. They asked if we had ever seen a piece of Peter Mood the elder of Charleston (1766-1821) with this mark. The piece in question was a spoon, similar to this one illustrated. We had not, and inquired about the provenance. The friend said, “It came from a South Carolina family that collected silver. I checked online and the reference said Mood also used a P M mark”. After perusing a couple of books, we uncovered the answer in Quebec and Related Silver at the Detroit Institute of Arts by Ross Allan C. Fox: Paul Morand, Montreal 1784-1854.
