Busy professional, mother and grandmother, aesthetics aside what should be celebrated:

✅ The confidence to walk in a gym, kick the backside of a session without the intimidation of the weights area or being judged by others. This was originally a sticking point.

✅ Ability to eat whatever she deemed fit and when just with a few targets on calories and protein. No missed special occasions. Inclusive of meals out. Most important of all, inclusive of gin and chocolate 🍫 - Yes, even gluten, wheat, dairy, grains, sugar, alcohol, lactose and ‘toxins’ 🤷🏻‍♂️

❌ Feelings of deprivation, removal of food groups, start and finish date. ➖
❌ End product. She’s just beginning her journey.

BIGGEST achievement of all is being body confident enough to share these pictures with the world - This was a non-negotiable to begin with and were purely for monitoring progress. Having permission to share is a HUGE milestone not only for me personally, but this human I’m also so very proud of.

DAY 148 - good job I started tracking again yesterday after a couple if weeks winging it

Explains why I felt so hungry

Look at the state of that protein level, just over 1g per kg of weight (I weighed 83.7 kg this morning)

I love intuitive eating, it should be the end goal for everyone to maintain weight back with sound habits

But when things aren't going right I default back to tracking my food intake (I use myfitnesspal)

The answers aren't hidden they just aren't being observed

Carbs are carbs

You know… the C-H-O molecule. -
The glucose. The fructose. The Galactose. The monosaccharides -
The maltose. The lactose. The sucrose. The disaccharides. -
And then the starches and fibres and glycogen…. The complex carbs. The polysaccharides. -
So yes – carbs are carbs. The larger molecules get broken down eventually into its simplest form. -
So where does this dogma of “GOOD” and “BAD” carbs come from… and the SCARE MONGERING around sugar?
There are no good and bad carbs as they all turn into the same molecule and get broken down into the same CHO in the end….

….. HOWEVER, there's nutrient dense VS nutrient scarce carbs. -
Lollies, chocolate, sugar-sweetened beverages, tarts, cakes, icecream……these are stripped of nutrients… they are high in calories… take a chunk out of your daily allowance with LITTLE satiety… no nutritional value offered. -
They are digested much quicker and can lead to you feeling like you need more food and pretty empty. -
🚫🚫🚫They DO NOT MAKE YOU FAT if it stays within your macro needs…. And if you ensure that you’re getting appropriate micronutrients and fibre… and HYDRATION. (about 25g is usually the lower limit I would be aiming for…)

✅✅The BEST CHOICE (note: CHOICE) of carbs that are advantageous to your HEALTH profiles are going to be the ones that are micronutrient rich and tick YES on your fibre box. … think potatoes, starchy vegetables, legumes, rice, fibre enriched bread & pasta…...FRUIT… and then there are the other vegetables that give VERY LITTLE CALORIES for their bang in nutritional value. -
VOLUME and SATISFACTION right there for you. The BEST choice and MY CHOICE when dieting. -
👉👉My favorite being cauliflower rice and zucchini sliced in soy sauce…. Tomatoes <3… BROCCOLI and green beans 😊 cucumber is also one of my favourite additions. -

For many people having a cheeky few drinks over a Friday & Saturday night is the norm in today’s society, its social, it’s the summer ☀️.. & c’mon what’s a glass or 3 of wine going do? 🥂

Well actually it could be the difference in you maintaining weight or in fact adding on a few pounds. .
.
Alcohol is simply empty calories, as there’s zero nutritional value within a glass of wine.. (yes even red wine & Sangria made with fruit 🍇😂), also alcohol supplies nearly double the amount of calories compared to protein & carbs. .
.
When you think there’s 200+ calories in your favourite cocktail, downing a few of them and you’ve had a meal or 2 😵😵. .
.
It’s now important to consider what happens WHEN you’ve consumed alcohol;
.
.
1. Alcohol immediately postpones the fat burning process taking place within the body, & contributes to a greater storage of fat.
2. Secondly, alcohol increases our appetite.. that combined with lost inhibitions, you are 150% more likely to make poor food choices .. this is a slippery slope now. Before you know it, you’re knee deep in a kebab 😂😂

Now it makes sense that the calorie deficit you have worked hard all week Monday - Friday to put yourself in is well and truly gone, & in fact you’re probably in a calorie surplus now. .
.
If drinking is on the cards - firstly make sure you have allocated enough calories for your night out.
Note: Vodka/diet sodas will be the lowest drink to have at 60-70 calories per tumbler or a glass of wine/ some low carb beers at about 125 calories per standard serve.
