🍇Yep, eating mostly whole foods helps a lot to lose weight. Of course, you will still need to pay attention to HOW MUCH you're eating - food quantity (portion control) is always important, no matter if you're eating healthy or unhealthy foods!

🎾Why can you eat more on the right side? The foods on the right side are less calorically dense - which means 'less calories per amount of foods' -> aka: you can eat more for the same amount of calories. This helps for you to feel full and satisfied (not hangry).

I'm a normal person with normal hang ups after massively gaining weight and two pregnancies ! 🍩 DOES EATING AFTER DARK MAKE YOU FAT? 🔥

It's a common question, but the short answer is NO.
-
Here's why:
-
🔥Your body is constantly burning energy for fuel from 2 sources:
-
1️⃣ Your body fat
2️⃣ The food you eat
-
Weight gain happens from being in a caloric surplus (eating more calories than you burn) over time. Weight loss happens from being in a caloric deficit over time.
-
So if you burn 2500 calories during the day and save 1000 (or however many you want within your 2500 allotment) to eat right before bed, you'll still be within your maintenance calorie limits.

😇 So0o0o0o0o0o while your body will be digesting the food during your sleep, you'll end up burning off what you stored the next day.
-
😘 And if you were to eat all 2500 calories before noon, then eat nothing until the next morning, you'd burn mostly fat that night during sleep.

➡️ If you wanted to lose fat, and you ate a big meal of 1000 calories in the morning and 1000 calories right before bed, you'd still create a 500 calorie deficit and magically... you'd lose fat over time even while stuffing your face before bedtime.

A very common statement is "I can't eat carbs. They make me gain weight." or "If I even think about chocolate cake, I gain 10 pounds." etc. etc.

When most of us think about carby foods, we tend to think of all our favorites like: 🍰 cake
🥐 croissant
🍟 fries
🍕 pizza
🍩 donuts

But when you look at the fat content of these foods -- it can make up as much as half the calories (or more). Just look above in my example. Most donuts are fried and that's what makes them so tasty. Half of the calories are fat from the oil and batter.

And then other foods like potatoes🥔, sweet potatoes🍠, rice 🍚, veggies 🥕🥒🥗, and fruits 🍒🍊🍍 are mostly all carbohydrates. But these foods on their own rarely taste good without at least a little fat. A baked potato is always better with a pat of butter or sour cream. A salad isn't too tasty unless it has some dressing (that usually contains fat). -
➡️ SO WHAT'S THE DEAL?

At the end of the day, when people say "carbs make me fat" a better statement would be "carbs and fat mixed together in foods that are super easy to overeat on make me fat."

Any excess of food, be it fat, carbs or protein will cause weight gain. Calories matter. But it's way easier to over eat on the donuts, cake, fries and buttery bread than it is on large amount of rice, veggies, or sweet potatoes.

300g of sweet potatoes with a pat of butter and a dash of cinnamon would still be fewer calories and less fat than a large donut that you could easily eat 2 or 3 of in one sitting.

🤔One of the biggest myths I hear is that eating before bed causes weight gain. Well, I'm happy to tell you that this myth, my friend, is a big ol' hunk of baloney.

😫You see, for the longest time, people have been fearful of eating carbs at night, eating after 7pm, eating before bed etc. Why? Because they thought that if you ate at night or before bed that whatever you ate would simply turn to fat and you'd gain weight.

😎Luckily for us the body doesn't work like that. What matters most is your total calorie intake. Can you gain weight from eating at night? Sure, 100%. But only IF what you end up eating puts you in a calorie surplus instead of maintenance levels or in a deficit.

💥The most important thing to keep in mind is that your total calories matter most for controlling weight or even for losing weight. Doesn't matter if you eat at midnight or 3am as long as you don't exceed your specific calorie targets then you're good to go.

🙏So please, do me a favor and share this with someone who still thinks eating at night will make them fat.

Calorie control is necessary for weightloss, but hunger and satisfaction obviously work against achieving an energy deficit. Eating whole foods keeps volume ⬆️, nutrients ⬆️, and calories in ☑️. Sure, 1800 calories is 1800 calories, but how much more successful with you be with the abundance on the right? (Check out the 🍳eggcelent post I put up yesterday for ways to make 140 calories go creatively far!)

Massively fatigued, calorie deficient and a low protein intake, all lead to a properly shite session.

Warm up: snatch complex x 5 at 50kgs.
Squats: 4x5 at 74% (167.5kgs) - it should have been 4x7 😡.
OHP: 3x8 at 52.5kgs.
Bent over rows: 4x8 at 35kgs.
E-z bar curls: 5x10 at 30kgs.

💢High Protein Mocha / Latte💢

☕️If you love coffee and find it hard to get in protein this might be the hack for you! This is by far one of my favorite things to have in the morning, especially before a workout! What I do is I brew some coffee into a shaker cup, and after I have let it cool down a bit, or you can add a bit of ice to cool it quicker (the protein powder might get clumpy if the coffee is too hot). I then add one scoop of my favorite flavor of protein powder to the shaker cup of coffee (any flavor works, I would suggest a flavor that goes well with a coffee taste). After that, I shake it up until it is all mixed together and enjoy my protein mocha/latte. The reason I like this option better than a normal latte/mocha from a coffee shop is that I get 25grams of protein in every scoop of protein I add (this varies depending on your protein), as well it's a lower calorie choice than most drinks you might get at any other coffee shop. It's a good pre-workout drink too cause you can get the energy from the caffeine and the fast acting protein from the protein powder (I will also combine this with some fruit and or another carbohydrate source for my pre-workout meal).
