EASY WAYS TO SAVE CALS IN YOUR STIR FRY

On the left:
🔹2 tsp oil for cooking
🔹1Tbsp Sweet Chilli Sauce
🔹280g Chicken (1 medium breast)
🔹1 cup Brown Rice
🔹Half the amount of Veg (1/4 red capsicum, 1/2 small carrot, 1 Medium Mushroom, 2 pieces Broccolini)

A successful bulk is simple: stay in a slight surplus, eat enough protein, aim for progression, and do more work gradually over time. When the goal shifts into fat loss, only a handful of things will change.

Calorie Deficit: if we want to lose fat, we must be in a negative energy balance, meaning we’ll have to consume less calories than we’re burning.
_
Protein Intake: The science is pretty clear that we don’t need as much protein as we once thought (0.8-1g/ lb will suffice)…but here’s the kicker: a study conducted by AUT University concluded that energy-restricted athletes will need a bit more. The consensus is that somewhere around 1-1.4g per pound of fat free mass is necessary to maintain muscle tissue when dieting.

Train for Strength: Decreasing intensity while in a caloric deficit is the fastest way to end up skinny and weak. The reason for this is simple: if we train with light weight for an extended period of time, we lose the strength and size adaptations we worked so hard for. We can (and should) reduce volume, but never intensity. The best way to maintain strength is to train as heavy as you did to develop it. The better we do at maintaining strength, the more muscle we can retain.

Less Volume: Fact is, we only require a fraction of the training it took to build a muscle, to maintain it, and anything else is just unnecessary stress placed on the body that could impair recovery, further. Bottom Line: Training volume can and should be decreased when dieting. If you’re currently doing 5 sets of squats, cut that down to 3 sets when dieting and so forth. Maintaining an adaptation can be done with as little as 1/3 the training it took to achieve it so don’t be afraid to train less, over time.

Calorie deficit, lifting, little cardio, and consistency! That is all it takes. Mainly a calorie deficit because that is what drives weight loss. Stick to a deficit consistently if you want to see change. If you want most of that weight you are losing to be fat, lift weights to maintain the muscle. Cardio for heart health.

💥The reality of life for my online clients is that not all of them want to count calories & I have some who eat out at least once maybe twice over a week albeit for a work schoomzing event or just a social event. Or sometimes their sat nav breaks so they dont find their way to the supermarket or the kitchen.

😍Im guessing some you are perhaps in one of those situations so here are some super simple things you can use to help keep calories under control.

⭐️On a slight side note, if you regularly dine out then I would encourage you ,as I do my online clients to take the view that this isn't an occasion it's just tea time. 👍🏻viewing something as an occasion for many immediately means I must eat indulgently, so keeping that mindset at bay will help to make some more optimal eating.👱🏻‍♀️

1️⃣Get into the habit of using a small plate to eat from, if you’re out ask for a side plate then serve yourself a smaller portion.

2️⃣Just leave some, leaving something rather than nothing will save you calories

3️⃣Use the good old hand guide to assess how your serving size is looking

4️⃣ Have extra veg & salad & cut your starches in half.

5️⃣Sauces can be a lethal & unexpected calorie load so always ask for dressing or sauce on the side you can pretty much fill your boots without having to worry about the calorie content )

6️⃣Be smart with your liquid intake keep it mostly to water & keep anything else 0 cal, nothing more annoying that unwittingly consuming 400 kcals from you morning coffee.

😀💥In conclusion if you are dine out every once in a while 💯 live your life enjoy it but if you're more the type that has a loyalty card for most of the eatery places in your area you need to implement some plans to keep you on track & if you just don’t want to count calories then these are things that should become a daily occurrence for you.

The less change, stress, and resistance you create through dieting, the better. So when I’m working with clients, I focus on helping them find lower calories food alternatives for what they’re already eating.

One way is to “Go Lean With Protein.” Most people don’t think much about the fat-to-lean ratio of the meat they’re buying....

Beef is a great example 🐃 —> by switching from regular 80/20 or 85/15 ground beef to leaner 93/7 or 96/4 beef, you can end up saving ~70-150 calories per serving.

Another easy lean protein swap is switching from full-fat dairy products to low-fat or fat-free alternatives. -
Another trick is to Go Light With Oil & Sauce.”

It’s straight-up ridonkulous how easy it is to take in hundreds of calories from oils and heavy sauces without even realizing it — especially for folks new to food journaling who don’t always think to track & measure them.

An easy fix is to use significantly less oil or opt for an oil spray. I’d also recommend swapping out high-calorie sauces for their lighter/calorie-free alternatives.

Multivitamins -Good or Bad

I get this question quite a lot so I thought I would address it.

The people that would most benefit from taking a multivitamin ironically , are the least like to take them..
These are people with lower incomes,can't afford to buy a wide variety of foods..
In my opinion,when you're in a "Caloric deficit" and you are trying to lose weight,I don't see any harm in taking a multivitamin as an insurance to cover your bases... Remember , when you're eating less to lose fat this means you will not be getting adequate nutrition .So it might make sense to Supplementation with a multivitamin.

Whether you do or not is completely u r own choice .I m not saying
should or should n't .

The best thing you can do is to try and get all your micronutrients from whole foods and get blood work done to see what u r deficient in and Supplement individual vitamins and minerals accordingly.

After 2 rest days, I got back into the gym last night. It's been 6 weeks since I started (...again) and last night was the first time I actually realized how much I've come to look forward to working out and how much I love the gym location I've been going to. I've hit a good stride and the mental benefits I'm feeling are worth more at this point in my life than the physical benefits are. Grief hits me hard some days and getting it out at the gym is so therapeutic. I miss my babies but I know they would be proud of me for making this change. Noah & I initially decided to go to an anytime fitness close to our house. We got there around 1130pm (I enjoy night time workouts) and within 5 minutes, it was packed! It was great to see all the people working toward their goals but I was totally missing the pitt meadows location (which is usually 100% empty for all of our visits at night!) The treadmill I was on decided to shut down and I could feel my motivation slipping. Wasting the pre-workout drink hype would have been a shame so we left and decided to drive the 15mins to pitt meadows & totally killed our workout. I worked my biceps, triceps, did some flies and lats and then capped the night off with 6 sets of deadlifts and weighted squats. So I haven't done a @fulfil_nutrition review in a few days because to be quite frank I couldn't be bothered to write about how much I didn't like them.

This morning I am teaching hot yoga and then off to a cycle Hiit class. I've relaxed a bit in December and I've started to eat more carbs as my coach thinks another 2/3 pounds before going to prep in Jan is ideal. I've definitely put on a small portion of fat but it's much harder for me now I have more muscle and a faster metabolism. A moderate amount of body fat is not the enemy. Come January don't go crazy and starve yourself for two weeks. You just need a small calorie deficit, a doable exercise regime and patience. If you go all out starvation you won't lose fat, you'll lose muscle and water and you'll mess up your metabolism. The result will be a much fatter you in 2018 which is the opposite of what you are trying to achieve no? Today we look at the “Paleo” diet. 
How it works?
The Paleo diet basically eliminates processed foods and you can only eat wholesome nutritious food including lean proteins, fruits and vegetables.

Little bit of western taste. Pasta with mix vege + breast chicken.

Total calorie intake: 410kcal
Plain pasta 100g cooked = 150kcal
Fried mix vege with 100g chicken breast (in olive oil) = 260kcal

So I’m attempting my first #cut. Slight #caloriedeficit without sacrificing #protein. Gimme them cut #abs! I’m happy with my #weight but I have a small amount of fat on my belly I’d like to trim so with this cut, I will be focusing on body fat percentage and progress pics rather than body weight. This was a protein-packed, #lowcalorie #dinner of chicken breast, vegetables, egg whites, a tsp of sesame oil, and tofu noodles with #sriracha (duh).
