Today is Day # 666 of the Trump Administration (no joke) - so it seems like an appropriate day to talk about the hellfire that is ravaging my beloved California, and the fact that Trump apparently plans to visit us, causing mayhem with his presidential entourage while we’re still responding to a crisis he’s more inclined to shame and badger us for than to actually help us with.
Friends, I have some questions.
But first, a quick survey of the damage -
The death toll from the current fires has risen to over 70 people.
Over 1,000 people are still missing.
More than 1,250 square miles have burned - an area larger than the entire state of Rhode Island.
The San Francisco Bay Area currently has the worst air quality in the world. More than a million children are missing school, thanks to mandatory closures from the smoke.
Meanwhile, in Southern California, a nuclear reactor site burned in one of our fires, and we’re all trying to figure out whether to believe the official accounts that no radiation was released, or if maybe we’re breathing radioactive smoke and nobody’s telling us because they don’t want to cause widespread panic. 🤷♀️
