This Stéphane « Mamar » Lochon’s picture was shooted by the french photographer Tramber in Avoriaz in 1995. This shot was published in the @twsnow issue of February 1996.
In the early 90’s Mamar was one of the new up-coming rider from France and more specifically from the Avoriaz Resort.
The Avoriaz crew was a really solid one with Olivier Saint Jour (@stjours ), Greg Poissonnier ( @dongrego ), Nicolas Droz (@nico_droz)… and of course Mamar ( @mamardhino )
They were all incredibly talented in snowboarding and also in skateboarding. So they did bring the skateboard tricks and lifestyle to the mountain.
The success of those Avoriaz local riders would be hard to understand without first turning to a guy named Bilou and his skate and snowboard shop "Street Trash".
It measured only fifteen square meters about 45 feet, but it sure brewed! It was one of the few places in the Alps where the urban skaters, natty rappers from the northeast suburbs of Paris, and snowboarders could gather together 🙌🏼
