Here’s a fun variation on the old school shrug. The cable changes the game as it involves constant tension on the muscle. The angle of the bench creates a unique range of motion that allows you to activate not only the traps, but also the rhomboids and even a little rear deltoid. Allow a slight bend in the elbows so that full range of motion can be achieve, but make sure the motion is initiated by the contracting the traps and not pulling with the arms.
