Solid shoulder & trap workout at the gym. The first video I’m hitting some cable shrugs on the freemotion lift machine. Cable shrugs are one of my favorite trap exercises. I have done DL’s for at least 6 months so I worked up to a modest 352x5. Unfortunately my R SI hasn’t fully recovered from the snow tubing accident last Winter even with all the time off squatting and deadlifting. Hopefully things change, but I might have give my body even more time off before competing again. Keep hand against thigh and pull from the center back by driving shoulder up and back as high as possible. Pause briefly then ascend slowly keeping tension constant. Arm and elbow shouldn’t bend or flex. It’s just a lever and does nothing more than anchor the weight for the back and traps to mover. Cable machines aren’t very heavy when trying to hit upper traps, so I decided to use the back row machine, to go heavier and get a better Full range of motion, I like to feel the tension being held on my traps after going heavy on the barbells..not the best angle for this video but just an idea to add to your basic training.
