Today marks Day 1 of my diet. I haven’t spoken much about my personal diet or training lately, but that I feel ready mentally and physically to commit I’M DOING THE DAMN THING!! As I begin my diet, here’s three (of course it’s three) things I plan to keep in mind:

1️⃣ Weightlifting does not / will not / (repeat) will not make you bulky - I’m embarrassed to say it, but earlier this year I took some time off weights because I was uncomfortable with my size. I was never “big”, I was just “big” for me. I felt like I was losing shape and just becoming blob-ish, so instead of lifting weights I switched to all high intensity cardio. Big mistake. Not only was I sweating buckets and having to use excessive amounts of dry shampoo, but my shape was getting even more shapeless. It was only when I started lifting heavy weights again that I started seeing the shape and definition I loved.

2️⃣ You don’t have to do it all at once - when I first started weightlifting again, I was in such a huge rush. When I saw small changes in definition within the first couple weeks, I got super excited and wanted to do all the cardio / all the exercises / and all the circuits at once. Again, bad idea. I’d spend days at a time sore and stiff, to the point that I actually ended up training less because I jumped in too quickly.

3️⃣ If you work a sedentary job dieting is gonna be harder (kinda) - Ever wonder why you could eat whatever you wanted as a kid and not gain any weight? Part of the reason why was probably because you were WAY more active. Chances are you also had less accessibility to snacks. Yeah, no credit card for snacks as a kid. I’m not saying it’s impossible, I’m just saying you have to do a lil more planning to get moving during your work day and keep those 3pm snacking hands from eating everything!!

・寝転がり膝を立てる
・手をまっすぐ体の横に置く
・かかとの位置はつま先が触れるくらい(膝の真下にかかとが来る位置)
・お尻の力を使い持ち上げる(この時腰で上げてしまわないように!)
・肩から膝が一直線になるように
・お尻を下げた時に床につくかつかないかくらいのところで持ち上げる
・お尻を上げたまま片足を上げ上下に動かす
・足を上げたままお尻を上げ下げ(骨盤が斜めにならないように!)
各動きを16回ずず、左右3セットずつやってみよう!🔥
⚠️足を伸ばすのがきつければ軽く曲げててもOK👌

A little 🍑GLUTE🍑action just in case you guys thought I wasn’t hip thrusting heavy anymore since I’m in prep😂 (Swipe for a different view👈🏼) .
A lot of competitors will stay completely away from heavy or challenging weights when they’re in the throws of contest prep, especially as it gets down to the nitty gritty final 6 weeks or so. .
While this can be smart if you physically cannot do those challenging weights without pain, it may hinder your progress and make you leave #gains on the table. .
Even when tired, I always push myself through a tough and intense workout. Why? Because every rep counts. I want to keep my muscles working so they’ll look their best on stage. I want to make those glutes and shoulders POP and if all I do is use baby weights for high reps my muscles will end up looking flat, and I’ll find out later that I lost the strength I built in the first place.

Some strength loss is inevitable during prep, mostly due to lowered caloric intake. But if you continue on training as you would while trying to build muscle (offseason), you’ll look better, you’ll maintain the mass you built and keep much of that strength. .
I make sure to use a variety of protocols so I’m constantly challenging my body. At the beginning of the week my hip thrust is banded at the knee, and I go high reps (15-30) with 225. Mid week I’ll bring it up (shown) to 315 or higher and use lower reps and slow down the movement (6-8 reps with pauses). This ensures that I’m working the muscle differently each time I train it. Fast and slow twitch get their time to shine✨
