This is Girraween National Park. It's located in the Granite Belt of Queensland. The park is renowned for its massive granite outcrops the size of mountains and precariously balanced boulders. The bush setting is simultaneously soft and rough with a gorgeous eucalypt palette and textured boulders like none other. It's beautiful and confronting. We've camped there 3 times now and after the third visit I felt I might be ready to make work about this awe inspiring place and how it made me feel. The series 'Girraween : Afternoon Walks' was a joy to paint and takes me there every time I look at an artwork. I hope you also get transported there too or another memorable bush setting. They are wonderful. Here are two pieces from the series 'The Ridge' and 'Bush Track' (80x120cm).
