_The Bushido Blade_ (1981) must have been a huge breakthrough for Laura—or at least promised to be. The chance to be in an American/English oriented feature, which was't a sexploitation flick, was important to her goals. She "starred" alongside such names as Richard Boone, James Earl Jones, and Sonny Chiba.
It looks like they started shooting it in 1978, which is about the time when Laura took a sort of hiatus from Joe D'Amato-style sexy films. As early as May 1979, she was citing her participation in _Bushido Blade_ as one of the high points (!) of her career, alongside the non-speaking appearance near Orson Welles in _Voyage of the Damned_ (!). Yet, _Bushido Blade_ was still exploitation cinema in a way (if we consider samurai movies), and not a hit... and Laura's performance wasn't great alongside the others. ...and they still made her be on the receiving end of some exotic sexy times, so... The funniest thing is how they try to shoehorn Laura into the story... She is some kind of mixed-race chick that happens to be in 19th c Japan as a samurai sword master, and dresses like an elf from Lord of the Rings.
